The 2018 Terberg DTS (UK) British Luge Championships took place at the Igls Olympic Sliding Centre in Innsbruck, Austria.

The men’s race saw a straight shoot-out between Team GB’s AJ Rosen and Rupert Staudinger, fresh from the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The battle went right down to the wire with Rupert Staudinger eventually prevailing by just 0.096secs in the closest British Championships in recent memory. AJ Rosen took the silver medal following on the back of his excellent 21st place in what was his 3rd Olympic Games. GB and British Army slider Ray Thompson took the Bronze Medal with up and coming RAF slider Luke Farrar taking a close 4th. RAF Team mates Danny Burke and Mark McQuitty finished 5th and 6th respectively.

In the Women’s race, GB and British Army slider Dani Scott took the honours with ease, underlining her dominance of the women’s sport in the UK. Dani’s performance was made all the more impressive by the fact she beat all but the two Olympians from the men’s field despite giving away a considerable weight advantage. The Army’s Lucy Wyatt took silver ahead of RAF rookie Sophie Ellis in 3rd.

This was the most competitive British Championships for many years, with more athletes competing than every before demonstrating the growth of the sport in the UK in previous years. The championships was made all the more successful thanks to the generous support from our sponsors Terberg DTS (UK) and we look forward to their continued interest and fantastic support for our sport next season.
